It seems that the spin-off localized release for Super Robot Wars OG: The Moon Dwellers performed well enough to warrant the same treatment for the main series. However, many thought the licensing issues would prohibit this from happening.
It appears that Bandai Namco has found a loophole though. By releasing Super Robot Wars V in Asia, it bypasses many of the licensing issues that would occur if the game were released in the West.
As both the PS4 and Vita are region free, not to mention the ease by which you can import games nowadays, by releasing the English version of Super Robot Wars V in Asia means that it can still be easily played in the West.
Whatever is happening with the English version of Super Robot Wars V though, I hope that we get the game soon. The wait is killing me.

Super Robot Wars V is released for PS4 and Vita on February 23rd in Japan. Currently, it is expected that the English localized Asian release will share the same release date. You can pre-order the English version of the game from importers such as Play Asia.
